2015 Reading and Challenges Wrap Up

Just like last year, I wanted to take one post and just do a recap of 2015!  I did this exact post last year and the year before and loved seeing it throughout the year.  This year I will compare 2015 to 2014, let's go!

Total number of books I read in 2015: 237
Total number of books I read in 2014: 234

Total number of pages I flipped, clicked, and so on in 2015: 77,778
Total number of pages I flipped, clicked, and so on in 2014: 77,370

To recap, I read more in 2015 (not by much, but still counts!) and can't wait to see what 2016 will look like!

I have been keeping track of WHERE my books were taking place all year.  Below is the outcome.  There are 11 states that I didn't "visit," which is one more better than last year!  But there are 16 countries other than the US that I spent some time in, which is 3 better than last year! With both of these increasing it makes me happy to see that I am reading more diversely at least geographically.

States that didn't make the list:
Alaska                Utah            Georgia
North Dakota      Nebraska      Mississippi
South Dakota      Kansas         Vermont
Wyoming            Kentucky

Countries accounted for:
Australia       Ireland        Brazil        Canada
France          Italy             Spain        Czech Republic
Mexico          Greece        Africa        Azerbaijan
Scotland        Russia          Sweden
England (London and other cities)

As far as the Ebook Challenge is concerned, I challenged myself to 100 ebooks and finished the year at 53.  Not dismal, but not complete, but fun to keep track!

2015 Challenges

Each year, I like to sign up for a few challenges to keep my reading interesting.  I am going to repeat two the challenges, but going to skip out on the one that I have completely failed the last two years (the off your shelf challenge)!  Check out the sidebar throughout the year to see my progress on these challenges and my reading stats!

Where Are You Reading?

In this challenge, I keep a Google Map (link to my google map for 2015) and place a pinpoint at each spot where a book takes place.  The link to my google map will also be in the sidebar all year round, so anyone can check out where I have been reading!

If you would like to participate - check out Book Journey.

Ebook Challenge

I found this challenge in 2013 and completely surpassed my goal and came close in 2014, although I haven't found anyone hosting it this year, I am going to challenge myself to reading 100 ebooks in 2015.  I am excited to see how much of my reading is in electronic form.

2014 Challenges!

Each year, I like to sign up for a few challenges to keep my reading interesting.  Last year I stuck with some challenges this year, so I think I am going to stick with it again!  Check out the sidebar throughout the year to see my progress on these challenges and my reading stats!

Where Are You Reading?

In this challenge, I keep a Google Map (link to my google map for 2014) and place a pinpoint at each spot where a book takes place.  The link to my google map will also be in the sidebar all year round, so anyone can check out where I have been reading!

If you would like to participate - check out Book Journey.

Ebook Challenge

So I found a new blog that is hosting this challenge this year, and as I completely surpassed my goal in 2013, I am going to up the ante in 2014.  I will be signing up for the server level, which is 100 ebooks!  So check out workadayreads to sign up for this challenge!

Off the Shelf Challenge

I completely failed at the off the shelf challenge in 2013, but still want to do it.  At the time of creating this post, I couldn't find anyone who was hosting.  So I am going to still keep track of what came off my shelf that went on before 2014 began.

2013 Challenges

As 2012 closed, I decided to stick with the challenges that I participated in 2012 because I liked them all, but nothing more.

Where Are You Reading?

In this challenge, I keep a Google Map (link to my google map for 2013) and place a pinpoint at each spot where a book takes place.  The link to my google map will also be in the sidebar all year round, so anyone can check out where I have been reading!

If you would like to participate - check out Book Journey.

Ebook Challenge

So the blog that hosted this one last year, is now no longer, which is sad because this is the only one that I definitely overachieved   I will continue with this challenge, so if anyone is in with me to challenge how many ebooks you read in 2013, please leave a comment below and depending on interest, I will get something formal up and running.

Off the Shelf Challenge 2013

I failed at this challenge in 2012, but am bound and determined to do a better job with this one in 2012.  I have probably overcommited in the Making a Dent category, hoping to read more than 30 books off my shelf that arrived before 2013 began - we shall see!

I will have a label for this again in 2013 and hope to see it all over my blog this year!

If you would like more information on this challenge, check out Bookish Ardour.

2012 Challenges wrap up

For 2012, I participated in 3 challenges and was quite successful in two of them and need to make more of an effort in the third for this next year.  So in this post, I am going to wrap up all three of my challenges.  I have a post scheduled for January 2nd to tell you about my 2013 challenges, hint I will be basically doing the same challenges next year!

The Where are you Reading Challenge was easy to complete and I loved watching as the year progressed where most of my books tended to take place.  I am an East Coast reader and love books that that take place in New York City.  Thankfully, I was able to visit NYC twice this year, great to put a face to a place or something like that!  My map can be found here - Kristin's Where are you Reading Map.

As it is easier to list the states that I didn't read a book in, I will do so - Nevada, Montana, North and South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Ohio, Tennessee, and Delaware. (definitely an East Coast reader).  The countries that I did read books in were Canada, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Israel, Kenya, China, Pakistan and Brazil - I was quite the worldly reader this year!

The 2012 Ebook Reading Challenge was the challenge I was most excited about because I have been reading more and more on my nook in various places, so I enjoyed tracking how many ebooks I read this year.  I outdid myself to the extreme in this challenge, I wanted to read 25 books and was able to finish 88 ebooks.  I would say I definitely completed this one!

The final challenge that I participated in for 2012 was the Off the Shelf Challenge.  This would be my failure for the year.  I wanted so badly to read books that had been on my shelf for a bit and either keep them or send them on their way - it just didn't happen.  I kept getting books in all year round that trumped what was currently on the shelf.  My goal was to read 50 books the were placed on myself before the beginning of 2012, I only read 5 books.  Maybe I will be more successful in 2013.

Where I Read in 2011

My first full year of tracking where the books I read took place.  I wanted to make the full list of States and Countries that were accomplished.  This is definitely a challenge I will be repeating next year!

Hosted by Sheila over at Book Journey.

States and Countries in no particular order:

New York
Kansas
Washington, D.C.
Pennsylvania
California
England
Nevada
Australia
New Jersey
Massachusetts
New Hampshire
Michigan
Washington
Germany
North Carolina
Canada
Missouri
Indiana
Maryland
Tennessee
Greece
Illinois
Texas
Mexico
South Dakota
Mississippi
Idaho
Italy
Minnesota
South Carolina
Florida
Colorado
Oregon
Louisiana
Virginia
Ohio
Arizona
Iowa
Michigan
Utah

So to sum up that is 33 states and 6 countries.  I would have thought my reading would have been less diverse, so I am very proud!

What is Challenging You? 2012 Challenges

2012 Challenges

I don't tend to overwhelm myself with too many challenges because I don't want to do the upkeep for them throughout the year.  So here are the three challenges that I will be doing in 2012:

1. Where are you Reading 2012?
A challenge that consists of me keeping up with a google map with all the locations of where the books I am reading take place.  This challenge only poses a problem when you reading those that don't really happen "here."  My 2012 map can be located - Kritters Map.  I loved this challenge last year, so I look forward to participating again.

2. Off the Shelf Challenge 2012
A second year to tackle this challenge and maybe 2012 I can make a bigger dent off my shelf and see big numbers with this one.  I will try to be "On a Roll" with this one, challenging myself to 50 books again.  So now to gather books to start 2012 right with reading off my current shelves!

3. Ebook Reading Challenge 2012
A new one for me this year, but after seeing how many ebooks I read last year, I think this one will be easily accomplished!  I am going to "MegaSize" this challenge and see if I can read more than 25 ebooks over the course of 2012.

As I did this past year, I will still be doing the Goodreads Challenges in the Red Dress Ink Fans group.

My ultimate goal is to have a good year of reading with diverse books that challenge and entertain me!

Happy Reading in 2012!

Out with a Bang Challenge

A challenge hosted by The Bookish Type and Book-Savvy to finish out 2010 with the last few reads on the pile.

With the last few days off, I have had my own read a thon, but I head back to work tomorrow (29th). I will be participating as much as I can while also catching up on work things. I will have Friday off to read, read and read.

I am not sure what I will be reading, but I will be keeping my nose in a book as much as I can!

2011 Challenges

With the new year comes new challenges - reading challenges that is! I don't want to overwhelm my first FULL year of blogging with too many challenges to keep track of. Seeing as I didn't complete one from 2010.

2011 Where are you Reading Challenge

One challenge I will partake in is 2011 Where are you Reading Challenge by Sheila at BookJourney.

I have set up a google map and will be putting dots where each of the books I complete in 2011 took place. You can see the google map here or you can click the button I have added on my right sidebar!

Goodreads Red Dress Ink Challenges

I will be continuing my participation in the quarterly Red Dress Ink Challenges in the Red Dress Ink Fan group on Goodreads.

Off the Shelf Challenge

An easy task to keep track of and I think to accomplish in a year - I am signing up to encourage myself to read off my overflowing shelves instead of acquiring new ones in 2011. I am going to sign myself up for a higher level, so hopefully with a goal I will work hard to achieve it!

So I will be On a Roll - choose 50 books to read. I haven't done my choosing, I think I will hope that they will fly off the shelf for me!
